Step up for Students bad week continues

Fresh off the revelation that paying off
legislators is part of their official strategy and their wait list which they
were using to justify an expansion of vouchers was mostly smoke and mirrors
their week just got worse.
Assigning more resources to disabled
children has been a big theme this legislative session and the house’s plan was
centered around sending more money to Step up for Students.  The senate a more reasonable bunch, which has
to be aware of the revelations about Step up for Students, stepped on the
brakes.
From
ReDefined ED:  The (senates) bill would
allow the Agency for Persons with Disabilities to set up a pilot program during
the program’s first year. The agency would be tasked with developing
“individual learning services plans” based on the students’ needs.
The changes also place the House and
Senate’s respective school choice plans further apart. The House legislation
would create education savings accounts managed by scholarship funding
organizations, possibly including Step Up for Students, which co-hosts this
blog. The House’s school choice proposals have also been merged, combining
individual student accounts with legislation to strengthen and expand tax
credit scholarships.
The more Step up for Students
dealings come to light the worse things will get for them.
