Florida Public Schools for Sale, cost 2 million dollars

A Palm Beach Post analysis showed charter school, voucher and
online education companies poured more than $2 million into last fall’s
political campaigns, to primarily those of Republicans again demanding more
alternatives to traditional public schools.

Let that sink in.
Then think about this. Private schools that take vouchers
don’t have any accountability standards that they must follow. I’m not saying
some or perhaps even most kids aren’t getting a quality education but I am
saying how do we know.
Then there is what they are doing with charter schools which
were supposed to be teacher parent driven labs of innovation but instead have
become profit centers for corporations more concerned with the bottom line.
Senate President Dan Geatz is seeking to exempt them form Student Success act that
was supposed to turn around education in Florida. Well if charter schools are
public schools (spoiler alert they aren’t) why should they be exempt, why would
anybody want them to be exempt?
Furthermore study after study shows that kids who take
vouchers or who attend charter schools despite being allowed to pick who they
take and keep don’t do a better job educating children. And since that is the
case why in the world would Florida be racing to send public money to them?
Oh wait I know.
